"Nazca
Lines, Peru #1"
acrylic on heavily sized pure linen
paper, 33 3/8 x 25 5/16
Gavin’s
expression of the re-markable surface geometry etched
out of the Peruvian desert that was discovered by
the pilot of a light aircraft in 1954. It is not
known for what purpose these strange projections
were created. Spec-ulation has even suggested that
they mark landing sites for extra-terrestrial craft.
The Trans- American Highway, of course, cuts through
the very heart of them, so Truckers couldn’t
give a shit. Gavin’s theory suggests that
the Nazca plateau was God’s Drawing Board,
and the lines are the pressure grooves left from
God’s pencil after He had completed His plan
for the Universe. |
